Product Detailed Description

The Beckhoff CX8080 is a compact embedded PC and PLC controller designed for small-scale industrial automation systems. It features a 400 MHz Arm9 processor, 64 MB of non-expandable DDR2 RAM, and a 512 MB microSD card for flash storage. The controller supports IEC 61131-3 programming through TwinCAT 2 PLC and includes an Ethernet interface for programming and configuration.The CX8080 provides one RS232 and one RS485 serial interface through a 9-pin D-sub connector. Its terminal interface automatically detects compatible Beckhoff K-bus or E-bus I/O terminals, allowing it to connect to distributed I/O modules. Passive cooling, a compact housing, and an integrated short-duration UPS function make it suitable for control cabinets and machine-level automation.

Replacement Model Introduction

Beckhoff recommends the CX8280 as an alternative to the CX8080. However, it should not automatically be treated as a direct drop-in replacement.The CX8080 uses TwinCAT 2 and Windows Embedded CE 6, while migration to another controller may require changes to the engineering environment, software runtime, serial communications, and I/O configuration.
